National Foster Care Month
May is National Foster Care Month,
a time to raise awareness about the importance of the foster care system and the incredible role foster parents, caseworkers, social workers, and advocates play in the lives of children in care. This month we celebrate the strength and resilience of children and families involved in foster care and highlight the need for more support and resources.
Why Foster Care Matters
Foster care provides temporary homes to children who are removed from their biological families due to abuse, neglect, or other challenging circumstances. These children need safe, stable, and supportive environments where they can heal, grow, and regain a sense of normalcy in their lives. With the right resources, children in foster care can go on to thrive in stable, permanent homes.
HOW CASA SUPPORTS FOSTER CHILDREN
As part of National Foster Care Month, we want to emphasize how CASA volunteers serve as advocates for children in foster care:
CASA volunteers are trained community members who are appointed by judges to represent the best interests of children in foster care.
CASA volunteers help to ensure children have a voice in court and are placed in safe, loving homes.
CASA volunteers provide critical support and advocacy, helping children navigate the complexities of the foster care system.
